Destiny (pre release)

I was looking around for a thread about this game but didn't see anything. The alpha on PS4 has been over for a couple of weeks now but I was wondering if any others are getting hyped for this game. I have never really been one for shooters but this was a lot of fun in Alpha and I am actually kinda interested in it now..

Think Halo but with a lot of RPG elements. So Gear, etc. Not sure about levels or anything but there is also dynamic events like GW2 or FATE like FFXIV. The world is always alive.

well, what I gleaned from Alpha was basically:

- core is a shooter a la Halo
- loot mechanic as a mix of borderlands or diablo without as much junk
- playing improves your character akin to a typical rpg
- all classes can use all weapons but each have a unique ability
- solo story maps, drop in co-op exploration and mission maps where you freely roam around exploring and find mission beacons that can lead you to a mini-boss type situation, and pvp maps
- you can improve your weapons, your mount (think star wars speeder), and your space ship

i don't really know why it is compelling but it was...and it was absolutely stunning looking on the ps4

Alpha was fun. I played it solo. I think it would be way more fun with a group of non-pug people fighting those world bosses. I died a bazillion times in that one instanced dungeon, so I guess I'm not the best fps player.

Neither am I, which is one of the things that makes me wonder why I am interested!

I mostly played solo but I did do one co-op dungeon with some random people, it was fun though the boss's seemed like they were way overpowered since we took forever to kill them and i had to die multiple times in order to get an ammo refresh. Afterwards I realized that I needed a weapon update big time and I suspect that was the case with the others as well....was solid fun though whereas most shooters I pick up and put down (with the exception I borderlands I suppose).

Titan was a lot of fun, the melee attach was awesome.

Unfortunately I doubt the Playstation players will be able to play with the XBox players.
