While You Are Bored At Work...

Sorry to break in here, but I'm bored and angry at work and I need to vent. Apparently I'm in trouble for taking Christmas Eve off even though I cleared it with my supervisor two weeks prior. You know why? Because I don't have a backup. You know why I don't have a backup? Because they've never listened to me the thousand times I've suggested I train someone so my work doesn't pile up if I get the flu or am hit by a bus or something. No, it was totally cool that no one else knew how to do my job until the one day I've asked to have off in the last year, when my workload is not that heavy and my work could wait a couple days. Also, my coworker whose work is not really affected by my absence freaked out because she didn't know I'd be gone, which is a little ironic since I'm the one that does her work all the time when she calls in sick. Also since I told her "Merry Christmas, see you Thursday!" when I left on Monday, right after answering another coworker's "And I'm not coming back until Monday next week" with "Oh, I'll be back Thursday, but I'm taking tomorrow off!" right in front of her.

Also, someone stole a whole stack of a supply I needed today, leaving me with none. Good thing I'm good with the creative problem solving. I think I need a new job.

Jeez Belle, that blows goats. I hope you can get those peeps in line. I know the feel though. The last 2 times I took off from work no one got our daily mail from the post office or touched anything that came in our fax/email system with my name anywhere on it. There were some pissed off people when I got in the next day, but not nearly as pissed off as I was. I'm taking off next Monday and I've made sure everyone knows that just because I'm out doesn't mean they don't have to do stuff. I'm not even the boss here...

Sorry to hear about the holiday work blues, B'elle. It's a no-win situation really. Even with the best planning, repeated department reminders, and my personal saving grace, automated e-mail replies, it never fails that someone will realize that they "desperately need" something when you finally take that vacation day.
