Fresh 50 - How to Gear: PvE

Hey folks,

I'm going to fill this in (please feel free to contribute whatever you want to this thread - I'll edit any info in to the original post!) with details on PvE dailies at 50 and how they can get you geared up.

I'll only put one thing here now. There are PvE dailies on Ilum (requires the Ilum quest chain to be done) as well as Belsavis (requires the Belsavis bonus series to be complete). You can get ~25 daily comms a day. For 120 comms you can get raid level ear and implant pieces. For 8 comms you can get purple 50 mods.

I know people seem to be defaulting to PvP as the only gear progression (and some are saying there is nothing to do other than PvP dailies) but the truth is there's some great stuff you can get with al ittle work via PvE dailies as well.

What I did, personally, was just get Greyanna (400 cybertech) and Caer (400 artifice) to make me mods for a suit of social armor that I had (any moddable armor will work). I then had implants (biochem) and an earpiece crafted (cybertech). For a relic I went and got my level 50 matrix cube made and grabbed a Dark IV tanking relic off of the GTN. That left belt and bracers which I was able to make for myself with synthweaving, but those could be made for you or bought off of the GTN as well.

The reason I went this route is because none of the mod vendors offer tanking-related mods or enhancements. The bought accessory pieces would be sufficient, in fact I think I replaced my crafted shield generator with one from Ilum (the crafted ones for anyone but an assassin should be sufficient but the patterns were lacking for willpower tanks).

Also, when modding for tanking remember: accuracy to 100% > defense > shield chance = shield absorption

PvE dungeon gear is obtained by getting Tionese or Columi commendations and turning them in to the correct vendor in the supplies section of the fleet. Or you can get lucky and get a token drop for Tionese, Columi or Rakata. Tokens are a 1 for 1 while commendations require you to do a lot of dungeons, but it is handy for those people with bad luck getting a specific token.

One thing to remember. Each of the end bosses of the dungeons drops a different token on hard.

A word on set items. You should go to Knotor to ensure you are going to purchase the correct set item. The bonuses aren't apparent until you purchase the gear.

-Where do I get level 50 HM/OP gear?-

HM= Hard modes
OP= Operations/Raids

Tionese = T1 (Badges/Crystals from Hard Modes)
• Tionese belt: Black Talon off the 1st boss
• Tionese primary: False Emperor HK-47
•Tionese offhand: Foundry HK-47
• Tionese implant: False Emperor Sith Entity
• Tionese bracers: Interrogator in Directive 7

Columi = T1.5 (HM Daily/Token from end bosses of HM)
• Black Talon: Columi bracers
• Boarding Party: Columi Gloves
• False Emperor: Columi Chest
• Battle of Ilum: Columi Offhand
• Directive 7: Columi Leggings
• The Foundry: Columi boots

Rakata = T2 (Operation/Raid only Gear)
• Implants: daily commendations
• Ear: daily commendations

-How do I get HM commendations for gear?-


• The last boss of each HM drops a token for a Columi piece
• HM bosses drop Tionese Crystals
• HM Daily give 2 Tionese commendations and 1 Columi commendation
• HM Weekly give 6 Tionese commendations and 2 Columi commendations
• Rakata tokens/commendations are only from Ops/Raids

-What gear should we have to run HM?-


Downtime you should be run dailies for 2 implants/ear (which are Rakata teir in stats). Also try and fill your orange gear with lvl 50-51 EPIC armoring/enhancements/mods/barrels. This will make your gear in between Tionese and Columi quality.
*note* If you run the dailies on both planets you can get 1 raid level epic every 5 days.

-What dailies should I be running?-

IMP = Imperial
REP = Republic

--> Ilum (8 Daily Commendations): To start them, you need to finish your class quest first. Doing so will give you a quest called FIRST STRIKE that ask you to report to the Imperial fleet and this quest will direct you to Ilum for its quest series. The quest series itself is fairly short but the mobs are tougher so be prepared to spend 2-3 hrs to finish them off. Each quest will give you 3 daily commendations and unlock daily missions on Ilum.
