Hey guys!
We should probably take a head-count of who's actually still "in" to do Savage. Haz is frustrated with it and not having fun, I'm not keen to beat my head against a mid-boss / throw millions of gil at a single fight for hours to eke out tiny amounts of DPS, Kheo has mentioned some not-fun-feelings toward FF14 end-game, and I don't wanna press on with people who aren't having fun, y'know?
As a group, that's kind of been our one underlying thesis: We may not be good at this stuff, but we have fun together~!
So - especially with you Frenchies having work piled on so heavily - now might be a good time to take a look at our roster and see who's still planning to show up two nights a week and raid, and who is ready to bow out.
<3
Haz is tired of savage with 1 night? I know it's not fun to wipe over and over on the game and not on the boss. What I think, and if people are willing, is to reduce our active raiding night for savage to once a week (sunday) and gives a few tries on faust. That way, people have the week to get their new piece of esoterics and we will not burn out from wiping on faust. If we don't meet the dps requirement for some attemps, call it a night and come back the next week.
With all the absence/vacation/re-switch class, I know some of us are behind with esoterics or Alex normal gear. I know I have way to many acc (will be up to normal with a few more peice) and next week I'm goign to get a eso ring and helm and the accessory i'm missing from Alexander normal, so all that should give me that extra dps.
If people want to call it and come back when it's more fun then so be it.
Don't forget. Believe in yourself. Not in the you who believes in me. Not the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in yourself.

nb: I remarked that he's frustrated, not tired.
Savage is, as people have pointed out to me on numerous occasions, savage. This is not meant to be "regular coil." Unfortunately, the actual "regular coil" tier of content is... gone... poof... over...So, yeah, I can understand even one night making a person frustrated with a difficulty tier that we never intended to attempt.
tl;dr - Savage may be beyond the scope of what some of us intended to tackle.
I've never really been interested in the Savage tier of content. I enjoy having fun with you guys, but constant frustration isn't fun, and that's what the Savage content is. It's for people who enjoy pounding away at the top tier until they get everything perfect. That's not me. T9 and T13 were bordering on too hard for me. But with Coil, there was a story along with it as well. The Alex story, on the other hand is - uh... Lacking? Maybe that'll change in the future. And in the future when I'm all overgeared and stuff the AS stuff won't be so bad. But for the time being, it's just not fun for me. I'm sorry.![]()
The problem is that with the current situation at work, I'll need all my head and energy to get through it; and the time ill have off, i will not want to grind, or have to rush having lunch like wednesday because something came up, and add another level of stress "just because" 7 people depend on me. It wasn't fun, and wasn't focused in a big part because of that.
Id rather pop in, do dungeons, help people, fool around, play destiny, create music, play with my dogs, y'know, the kind of "turn your head off and relax" kind of things.
That's one of the reasons I thought healer would be better for me, since grinding really helps in some healing intensive fights, so I can gear up slowly and eventually make it and not be part of the "dps check" I'd make fail every damn time and get frustrated.
It's also my first experience in "raiding", it's fun for the challenge, but I totally fail to see the point instead of showing new gear in people's face. Grind to get gear to clear things to have a patch update so people can get better gear in less time? Until chritsmas, nope. I don't have time and strongly believe that it won't change in the future. Think i'm more of a "Jon" type of raider. You need help? Sure, I got the gear, show me the ropes and I'll get there eventually.
I'm not saying "so long and thanks for all the fish", but for a close to medium future(earliest in 2 months, up to XMas), I don't think I'll have enough energy to devote to you guys.
Savage requires an amount of commitment I am not ready to do, for
As Gwen just popped up, regular coil was challenging, but you could still fool around and win(still : fuck T9), we made it, luckily perhaps, perhaps it was the best run we've ever made(i dont remember the last %15 out of annoyance/excitement combo), but most of us never want to go back, me first, ever. Other groups would have done it over and over and over and over and over to get the best gear for when T10/new content drops. Same as with A1-4, people clearing it without the group kinda pissed me off to be honest. And I hate being pissed at people, so I usually just keep it to myself and carry on.
I like figuring things out, understand how they work, what we should do.
Going in knowing someone's already got all the required skill and knowledge, telling others what to do, etc, its just.. not my type of gameplay. I don't watch walkthrough of any games :"Hey, I'm going to watch "FF7", see how the entire game is, get spoiled, see if I'm gonna play it after." .. That is a notion I don't quite well understand
I'd love to say that it is not a "It's not you, it's me" kind of situation, but I am definitely not the guy you need for a SAVAGE level kind of group.
So yeah, I'll be there sunday if we decide to go(and only if the DPS had time to upgrade their gear to catch the missing 600 dps we were missing), but starting next wednesday, LF1M healer.

::EDIT:: Thats a big wall of text. My first book should come out next week at this rate!

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say from the sideline that I feel the same pains/frustrations/concerns you all are having here and that my flight has suffered the loss of 3 members already because of the "wall".
My only real advice for trying to get over it, should you choose to keep at it with the group, is to try a 1 tank method on Faust if you haven't yet. Essentially, a PLD tanking Faust and adds all at once, rotating cooldowns when they become available and generally shitting their pants hoping they don't get crit (that's been my role thus far). The second tank then stays in a DPS stance/rotation the whole time and it pumps up the dps numbers some more. If you want any more info on that strat from me, just ask.
Best of luck in whatever you guys choose to do <3
Thanks for the advice, Crunchy.
Although the timing of my post probably indicates that it's about Savage specifically, we had a couple of people that were kind of already "done" well before this, and I think it's only that we're all friends with each other and were so invested in completing the 2.x tier of raids that we even bothered to continue progression on T13, since many of our members were kinda... meh... even back then.
Excise the fun story from Coil and the weeks and months already invested into Final Coil, and what's the point, you know? We were never a hard-core group, and - while I totally understand that some groups are able to commit the extra hours to transform themselves into a group that can and will tackle Savage - many of our members just don't want to invest that much energy. Better to admit that now than when we're several weeks down the line and wanting to choke each other out.![]()
I have no interest in savage alexander honnestly. And from the looks of it, I wouldn't care to try again until everyone is in full esotherics.
No amount of monkeying is gonna give us 15% more deeps. We need to either rework group composition or get more gear, and I'm not keen on the first, and the second is just time capped.
Frankly I'd be in for skipping alexander savage altogether. It is too hardcore for what we like to do.
