    Harvesting & Crafting

The crafting seriously makes me wet. I just want to play a game and do that and the supply side logistics all day. That's one of the main components of EVE that always drew me back in as well.

From what I can gather, you can't really "just craft." You have to be able to PvP to craft, or you just get ganked non-stop.

You can just craft as long as you get the materials. As the game matures, you'll either take your skilling in a combat oriented direction, or crafting direction. Splitting them will probably be the least helpful. So as in EVE, you end up with a combat branch that does harvesting/gathering runs, and then you turn those over to the people who actually can make something good with the materials because the better those craftings skills get, the lower the chance of failure is and the higher the chance of final results are.

Also in the current interation there is no safe place to craft. As the game is fleshed out, it sounds like the EKs have a much greater chance of allowing some additional freedoms in being safe while crafting.

Yeah, it's gonna be like EVE or Lineage 2 as you'll go out with your clan to get materials and protect your harvesters from ganks. That's gonna be really fun and will make or break clans.

The game is all about grouping up with friends or clannies since there's some nodes that require at least 2 people to harvest and you'll need to specialize in different things, so it makes it even more complex for solo players. We'll all be specializing in different things, we'll need pure combat people to guard harvest runs.

So it looks like you can be a harvester or crafter without losing that much combat relevance. You still have your archetype/disciplines that you can train skills/passives in. The crafting/harvesting investment happens in the universal abilities that affect all archetypes you play. To specialize in crafting you would forgo some combat abilities/passives in that universal tier. The power curve on those abilities/passives are supposed to be shallow (We'll see if that holds true). In Theory, a harvester could equal a more combat specialized player just by having access to better materials and then having his crafter buddy make better gear. We'll still need groups to harvest, but harvesters won't be useless in combat.

Knight/Harvester looks like where I'd go based on what I know now. I'm sure that will change many times between now and 2025 when this game comes out. That'll be one year sooner than Camelot Unchained.
