FiF XIV’s player housing to include over 300 custom parts
Player Housing will be making its grand debut in Eorzea come FFXIV’s 2.1 patch and with it a place to call your own in any one of the game’s three city-states – Limsa Lominsa, Gridania or Ul’dah.
Meant for personal use or a place where Free Companies can gather, player housing will offer up over 300 custom parts for construction – including special Final Fantasy themed items. Things like tables, chairs and even carpets can be crafted by some of the game’s player classes and special items can be obtained by defeating certain enemies, such as Ifrit.
Yoshida and the team hope to also add chocobo stables, furniture that offers bonuses for Free Companies, and even a place where crafters can work in peace. Housing won’t be cheap, however – Yoshida claims it’ll cost you quite a bit to get a place of your own, and not just the money earned from playing through a single class. Patch 2.1 will surface sometime later this year with further patches following three months after that.

I like how they specifically say that furniture could give bonuses to the free company. I remember in FFXI so many people getting furniture for the rumored benefit it supposedly gave you... some of it could have been superstition, but I had the stuff too just in case haha.

We should all buy in the same neighborhood. I'm buying the Scarface house on the beach (Limsa). Don't even look at it.

I'm horrible at making money ... so anyone need a roommate?! I can't promise I won't be lazy and just watch tv on my mooglecouch all day.

All I've heard is it will cost more than what you make through questing alone, so most likely I think they will be around 300k, 500k, and 1 million gil.
Also, I'm willing to bet carpenters will suddenly become a very profitable once 2.1 comes out.

I am leveling my carpenter with this hope! Although I would imagine that Square will be able to balance other items for other crafts. Like, Goldsmiths making fancy clocks, weavers making fancy rugs, and alchemy.... lava lamps?
