How to obtain the Legendary Recipes:
You buy the recipes for the "gifts" and the "Trophy's" from Miyani, they cost 10 Gold each. It will cost 20 gold to obtain both gift recipes

Where do I find Miyani?
Miyani is found next to the Mystic Forge in Lion's Arch.

The locations for these items are unknown at the moment! (RJO - I will update this guide once we learn this)

I don't want to waste money switching disciplines, what if I want more than one legendary?

Gifts - These are not soulbound and will be able to be sold on the AH
Bloodstone Shard - This will be soulbound.
Exotic Weapons - This will also be soulbound.
Final Legendary Weapon - Soulbound as well.

So, you can buy the two gifts(guaranteed to be pricey), but you will still have to grind out the 200 skill points, and the exotic weapon.

200 skill points... farming mats doesn't seem so bad anymore. Well, time to start saving.

I want to make the scepter so bad.

I wonder if the mats needed to make the gift items will require the craft as well, or if it's just the final assembly of it.

While I was looking at the Gift of Color recipe and I decided to see if the mats were just found in the wild. Unfortunately, they aren't. We have to craft the items and it took lower tiered items to make the higher ones. The first mat I saw that didn't need two others to make it was a level 20 one. So if you want to make one, we're going to have to start all the way from tier 1ish.

You will need the craft all the way through, but what I noticed was that you also needed a jeweler to make the mats for the Gift of Color (a cooking recipe). So it will either be a group effort or you're going to need to level the crafting skills of alts at the same time.

Sounds like it's right out of FFXI.

Very good information. I bet if enough people wanted to group up with these efforts we could be fully autonomous within our guild and never have to purchase items but be able to supply all of the raw mats, and crafted mats from within.

Easily! Even easier if the dungeon items aren't BoP.

This kind of feels like a good guild activity when we get people up there. I've done this sort of thing in EQ2 with Mythic Weapons. For components that the guild needs to work on together you get a sort of lotto list and work to get people the weapons.

We'll have a plan for it when we get there...

so the 200 skill points how in gods name do I get 400 if I want to d/w

400 Skill Points
6500 harvested items
200 lumps of primordium (whatever that is it sounds difficult)
26 runs of Ascalon catacombs
2 Bloodstones
2 exotic weapons

/sigh I guess I have a long term goal now.

Once you hit level 80 you continue to gain levels in the form of skill points.

Plus there are a boat load of skill challenges... it won't be as bad as you think... ish.

So glad they brought that over from GW 1, I had so many extra skill points I didn't know what to do with them.

I am actually looking forward to doing this, now if I can just decide which toon will be my main since this looks like a very long-term goal.

GW2 database has a list of all of the legendary weapons (listed as level 82, so sort by level) so that you can get an idea of what stats they all have.

EDIT: it looks like they all have power/toughness/vitality on them. Also, anyone see a shield, because I don't :(

According to reddit and the crazy hardcore players out there, the recipe for legendaries has changed since beta. It no longer just requires the gifts, shard, and exotic. Current research seems to give these requirements:

Forge Item 1 -- Exotic Base weapon (X of Rage)
Forge Item 2 -- Crafted Gift 1, Crafted Gift 2, 100x Icy Runestone, A Superior Sigil specific to the desired Legendary
Forge Item 3 -- Bloodstone Shard, Gift of Battle, Gift of Exploration, 250x Obsidian Shard
Forge Item 4 -- Mystic Clover (not sure how many), Globs of Ectoplasm (not sure how many), Gift of Magic, Gift of Might

Combine those 4 and you'll be rewarded with your very own Legendary.

This means all legendary weapons will require AT LEAST:

The base exotic weapon
525,000 karma
200 skill points
120g
100% World Completion
500 tokens from a particular dungeon
500 Medals of Honor from WvW
lvl 400 in two particular crafting professions.
250 of each T6 fine crafting material

And that doesn't even cover farming/buying all of the basic crafting mats.

Yah its been pretty insane. Ive been following the forum for a while now. They dont know how many Mystic clovers are needed yet but the only way they know to get them atm is:
10 Obsidian Shards + 10 Ectoplasm + 10 Crystals + 10 Mystic Coins = 20-50 of a random t6 material (mystic clovers being one of these).
So. For those wanting to make this I would probably wait till they find out how many mystic clovers are needed, then make them using this recipe and use the leftover tier 6 mats instead of first farming those for the other gifts.
Its a super looong process. But I really like it. If you have a legendary it really means you've worked hard and have something worthwhile.

BTW here is a new complete guide for every legendary that has just been compiled using the information gained in the twilight search. But now its been applied to every legendary.

Ive found the hardest thing about making your legendary is farming for the materials... If anyone has any areas that drop a lot of tier 6 mats I would love to know about it. Magic Find hasn't been helping me lately either...
