IT means that if you preorder you automatically get in, and don'r have to request an invitation. BTW, wasn't there an early acces around like the 16? or am I wrong?
hehe yes I gathered that; my point was that it isn't exactly an "open" beta when it isn't open for everyone, is it? ;)
Well it's open, but not everyone who registers gets picked. Preorder people are assured their place regardless of their specs, demographics etc.
Yes, but ... nevermind. >_<
Haha, I will try and help Okaria,
He was making fun of their wording about it being Open Beta, which is usually fully open to anyone that has a pulse in most games and not restricted to a preorder, etc. Perhaps they should call it "Almost Open Beta" to clear it up.
If someone else attempts to explain why it really is open beta, I vote to set this thread on fire.
Oh god pops is here... Run away!
Some details from Kotaku:
Quote:
Champions Online developer Cryptic has dropped details and dates for its upcoming "open" beta test, with 50,000 keys up for grabs worldwide via IGN's FilePlanet.
Yes, Cryptic and FilePlanet have teamed up to help streamline the beta testing process. There are now two ways to get beta keys, either by actually preordering the game at select retails, or going through FilePlanet. Either way, FilePlanet will be your source for the game client, with paying subscribers to the service getting their hands on the client on August 5th, nearly two weeks before the beta kicks off on August 17th. As I understand it, those not subscribing to the service will have to wait until the beta test is live.
FilePlanet will have 50,000 codes to give away for players in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, so if you aren't planning on preordering you might want to keep an eye on their Champions page to make sure you secure a spot.
Damn the man!
And nice one pops :)
Fileplanet got me to subscribe once before with a scheme like this. Didn't really feel like it was worth it, and definitely not worth renewing.
Ok, so if I'm reading this correctly, if I subscribe to File Planet I get to download the game on August 5th.
But, I still wouldn't have access until the 17th when the Beta officially starts correct?
Is it worth subscribing just to download early? Are there any other perks that are worth the subscription price?
Thanks in advance.
The win here with fileplanet is you actually get access... if you already have pre order access you should not require the fileplanet sub. The 50k downloads are for people with no pre order...
