Raiding - Looking to raid? Read me first
Welcome, Raiders! As your Raid Officer, it is my hope to assist potential raiders with their Alexander Savage Static needs. Ideally, we want everyone who would like to raid to be able to do so with their own FC Static. Thus, by following the instructions below, we expect to do just that.
First, however, I want to define exactly what raiding is and what you can expect to find so that you know what you are getting into beforehand. FFXIV Raiding, in my opinion, is the best content the game has to offer. It deals with complex, organized teamwork and habitual practice of end-game fight mechanics. Generally, Static Raids will require one to two hour sessions on multiple nights a week. It is safe to say that Raiding (although achievable) is not for the casual player. [3.2 Update] Unlike the prior 3.1 Savage, the current Savages and future Savages probably will not be as hard. They are definitely doable with a solid group and some practice but more importantly, the Savage mechanics are actually pretty fun this time around. However like always, know going in, you are going to die a lot. Over and over and over again. Know your class/job rotations, read up on tips and videos, and try to remain level headed throughout and with a little hope and some pixie dust, you might move to next phase of the fight. I personally watch MizzTech's Videos for fight explanations. She is normally direct and shortens explanations down to the necessary. Plus having a cute voice doesn't hurt either ;-)
Through Raiding, you will gain not only the best gear in the game but a sense of accomplishment and community among your fellow static raiders. There’s nothing like completing a fight after weeks of practice. Yet, in the same regards, there’s nothing worse than spending hours wiping to the same fight mechanics (though sometimes this is funny, too). So, with that said, whether you are starting a Static Flight or finding a Static Flight, you will want to find players who YOU can play with. Everyone has different play styles and enjoyments for the game, so if things aren’t working out do not let it ruin your fun of the game. Discuss it with an FC Officer (including me), and we will do our best to address the issues.
With that out of the way, I’ll be breaking the Raid instructions down into two parts: (1) those looking to Raid and (2) those looking to start/form a Static Flight.
Note: The below are the AKS guidelines for Raiding; while we do hold firm on several points, such as flight recognition requirements, the majority of set agreements will be between you and your static.
Looking to Raid Steps
Step 1) Use the following template below and post your information to this thread in a reply.
In-Game Name:
Days: (Format: M-T-W-Th-F-Sa-Sun)
Times: (Please use days and time zones.)
Roles: (Format: BLM, PLD, BRD, etc.)
Experience: (Format: Current Turn/Furthest Progression)
Comments: (Please try to keep this short and concise.)
Example:
In-Game Name: Artex G'kahkol
Days: M-Th; Sun
Times: 7PM-12AM EST (M-Th); 6PM-12AM EST (Sun)
Roles: Nin/War/Whm
Experience: A2S
Comments: I can do other days if I’m asked but these are my preferred days. I have a tendency to screw up words.
* Note: Once you have found a Static Flight or formed one, we would kindly ask that you delete your posting from Step 1 as to avoid confusion with other recruiting flights. If you have not logged in for more than twenty-one days, your Step 1 posting will be removed in order to keep the listing of active players.
Step 2) Be patient. Raid Static forming is not always easy so please bear with us. We encourage all players interested in Raiding to play an active role. The process of Raiding is made easier if, while playing, you find players you like and have similar schedules with.
Step 3) Be informative. Please let us (Raid officers) know of your decisions and issues either in-game or on the forums.
* Advice: Join only one static; overlapping statics will cause a good amount of drama for you later if you decide to balance between two.
Looking to Form a Static Flight
**Warning: Leading/heading up a Flight group is hard, committed work. The ugly truth is that people are people, and especially at the start of a static you will have ‘No Shows’ or a lack of commitment from others for times arranged for the Static. This can be somewhat discouraging and quite the headache. Though, should you succeed in forming a static, you will be rewarded with a fun, enjoyable progression through the FFXIV Raids offered and hopefully produce long lasting friendships with those participating in your static for games to come.
**Note: Before you can apply for a raid leader position, you must have finished your trial and been promoted to the rank of Knight.
Step 1) Inform Artex G'kahkol of your intentions to start a Flight via a forum message.
* Note: Please give as much detail about the Flight as you can such as when you would like to Raid (Days/Time), who if any is already looking to join your group, the roles filled in your group and roles needed, and anything else you deem necessary. Please also include your In-game name so we know who to contact in-game if we want to talk to you there.
Step 2) After receiving the okay from the Step 1, you may start actively recruiting members via starting a Flight Recruitment thread in the Raid forums for your group.
* Note: Please be kind to other FC Raiders. As a representing AKS Static Leader, we are holding you to higher standards to fulfill the FC Charter. This is foremost a game and games are meant to be fun. That said, should a problem arise that you feel needs assistance, please contact a FC Officer.
Step 3) While we encourage Statics be comprised of AKS members, this is not always possible since not all days, times and roles will align to form a Static. Once FC options have been exhausted, you may recruit outside the FC. This is normally made easier through the usage of the official Gilgamesh forums (Gilgamesh) and the in-game Party Finder system. Please also try to persuade these types of recruits to join AKS, as a member outside of AKS will not be considered a full member of an AKS Static unless they are in AKS. These temporary members will exist only until an AKS member can replace them or the former party joins AKS. This is a preventive measure against people who would use AKS resources (Mumble, Forums, and other static members) to further their game progression without any commitment to the group. In the end, this is left to the Static's discretion. We will not force any static to replace any member they feel is contributing, only ask that they continue to promote AKS recruitment.
* Note: At a minimum, we require that all AKS recognized Flights consist of at least five AKS members. Raiding entitlements will not be given if this requirement is not met.
* Advice: To keep track of your static while it forms, it is recommended that you create your own Linkshell. This strategy has worked out for the current AKS statics and can be used going forward to keep communication with your static.
Step 4) Once your static is formed and all members are accounted for, please inform a Raid Officer via forum messaging of the members and roles of your Static. If Raid requirements are met, your group will be officially added to the AKS Static Raid Roster, Progression Listing, and be given a Mumble Raiding room.
* Note: We like to have fun at AKS so we encourage Raid groups to come up with a nickname for themselves. This nickname will be reflected on your Mumble room and the official roster. Take your time deciding with your group. The best ones normally arise from the funniest of moments. Also, after the group is complete, we would ask that all participating AKS members please remove any posting they made to this thread.
If you made it this far down the reading, I would like to extend my personal thanks and wish you all the best in FFXIV and your own Raiding Flight.
~ Your Raid Officer,
Artex G'kahkol

Roles: i208 SMN, i208 SCH, i205 PLD
Experience: AS1/AS2 Farm/Sale, Thor EX Farm/Sale, AS3 just after add phase with tethers.
Comments: I work 4 on 6 off with my job (Day Day Night Night, DD NN) so my schedule rotates constantly by that 3 day window. On my DD I can make raids with no issue in this timeslot window, my NN however I work 6pm PST - 6am PST so cannot make raids. TL;DR I can make most 8/10 days missing only Tuesdays IF raid window is earlier than 8:30 PM PST (reason is I am a Cub Scouts Leader for one of my boys for Scouts Canada.)
I am also willing to teach/coach people on turns they are not yet obtaining a kill and help with strategy and ideas.
I bring a positive attitude with a critical thinking and analytical response in regards to wiping. Analyze, diagnose, self correct/make changes. Try/Revisit/Progress. Moving forward with extra thoughts towards progression.

Roles: SMN - 210 PLD - 190 but in progress
Experience: DF A1-4, Coil T1-8
Comments: I haven't raided much in FF14 but I'm ready to give it a shot. I do,however, have a fairly experienced background raiding in other games so I know more or less what is expected of me (I have a pretty upbeat attitude towards the whole atmosphere of raiding ;)). I work two jobs, finishing a couple classes, and have a wife so there may be the occasional night where I just can't be on. I will do my best to let the lead know ahead of time if that should ever happen.
