Re: New FFVII Remake Trailer
I keep throwing money at my screen in hopes that I can buy it faster.

Going to have so much Final Fantasy to play lol
Re: New FFVII Remake Trailer
Apparently it's going to be episodic as well which is interesting.

Without more information there is no need to freak out. With that said the warning alarms are definitely sounding.
Re: New FFVII Remake Trailer
how does that look like vanilla combat? Its all real time action based like Kingdom Hearts/FF XV now.
They've come out and said now that they are releasing the game episodically because its too big for a single release.
They could always release it in multiple discs but I think its just going to take a very long time to create and be very expensive so theyre going to try to get as much money out of us as possible, I wouldnt be surprised if the entire game was $200
I'm part of their target demographic and would shell out an entire paycheck for this game.
I expect part 1 in 2017 but it might be a really long time until the entire thing is complete, considering how big and varied FF7 is. Probably nearing PlayStation 5 announcement/release.

Well my assumption was nothing scientific really I was looking at the video and saw the same kind of combat menu plus the filling gauge under the character's name.

I did read what you linked and I'm a bit unsure now :P
Quote:
"The ATB gauge is there, but it’s not the type where you wait for it to fill up and then attack. Instead, it’s its own system that lends to the action of this game. Its name might also be changed. Nomura says you should pay particular attention to when the gauge turns red."
"There are three-member parties and you can switch freely between them. You can also just control one character if you don’t want to switch."
So I guess the gauge is a "real time" combat system where if you wait longer, the stronger the attack....? I suppose something adding some choices and timing to the combat system. Seems fun. I wish it was something like The legend of Dragoon, one of my favorite combat system in that type of game.
Yeah, I would not be surprised if we were looking at some kind of trilogy. If it's good and well adapted, I'll gladly through my money at them :D
Re: New FFVII Remake Trailer
I like that they are changing the combat system, slow turn based combat was a necessity of the time due to hardware constraints and it is really dated now.
It really kills the pacing when you see all these awesome cutscenes and then when you get into battle everyone is just standing around for 15 seconds until 1 person is allowed to attack, one move at a time.
Purists might want the old version but I like that they are going full action combat with an extra layer of things that happens seamlessly while you are fighting.

Rare to see a response/explanation like this even if it doesn't divulge much.
