Move to Stormtalon?

Megaservers may not come for another couple months, so meanwhile various guilds on our server are thinking of taking advantage of the free transfers and hopping over to Stormtalon, the current destination of choice. So the question is, do we want to hop as well?

Benefits:

• More people to do events/dungeons/whatnot
• Healthier economy
• Reconnect with guilds that have already hopped

Drawbacks:

• Have to re-establish the guild. If we stay it'll transfer as-is when the megaserver launches. Specifically we'll have to:
  
  • Re-earn the influence to unlock everything, *without* the benefit of our huge launch day population
  • Mule the contents of the guild bank on alts
• Lose connection with guilds and friends who don't hop to the same server.
• Potentially have to rename characters. On the megaserver we'd keep our names and get last names to distinguish collisions.
• Deal with the painful transition while people slowly trickle in from the old server.

So, what do we think? My inclination is to stay unless the server pop craters (more so than it has already). Transferring would be a pain, and would eventually be made moot regardless.

Edit: Note that character friends *will not* transfer, so meanwhile make sure to add everyone as account friends so it'll carry over if you or they transfer over.

We'll be looking at waiting 3-6 weeks until the megaservers I'd be willing to bet longer.

Yeah, Carbine's track record for delivering on time is rather less than stellar.

FWIW: Popped on Stormtalon and CREDD there is sitting at about 6 plat, vs. 8 on Thunderfoot.

There's a hybrid option - Create a potemkin-esque guild on ST for a few characters, people that really want to get into the higher-pop stuff, and then shuffle everyone back into AK once the merger happens.

We're unlikely to go for any solution that involves splitting up active members between servers.

For those that didn't join us in SWTOR, we tried having a guild going on both factions. It sounded like a good idea in theory (people can play what they want, see all the content), but ended up pretty bad in practice (it's a pain in the ass to get things going when people are spread all over different levels in different factions).

Im fairly new to the guild, and game, that being said, im all for the move, its very hard to find people on at some of the odder hours that i tend to be on. Even harder to find people interested in doing non vet dungeons and adventures.

I'm also all for moving.

Hi Griiz here - New to the guild and as of late I was seriously looking at re-rolling on Stormtalon anyway (or Pergo (PvP)) due to the low population on Thunderfoot. Now the Megaservers are coming. So continuing to level here (assuming nothing is lost and friends/guilds that move to other servers are still in touch) and riding the merger when it cometh (maybe move an ALT if must play with others) may yield the least amount of risk. Bottom line is not IF the guild moves, the decision point is simply WHEN. If it does crater from an overall perspective then re-evaluate. Just my two copper.
