Jalapeño, a good pepper and a good color!
I tested on 8/9 for the stress test and sported the guild colors as usual. I wish I would have taken a screenshot but I will take one this time around if it happens for the next stress test. Basically I looked like the above pictures but then mixed in there was some random bright neon green trim on all of the edges of my pauldrons that stuck out like a sore thumb. It looked terrible so hopefully that will not be the norm and just a stress test issue as I do not recall ever seeing that on my previous builds for any of the beta weekends.
So, Hibs in DAoC? I was Mid. :-D
I like our guild colors I really do. Just not so much in GW2 especially on Heavy Armor. I don't have a clue why they just seem kind of Meh on heavy, But I did work with some different dyes and the such today and found that making the base black and highlighting with green and gold looked way better than a green or gold base
I haven't tried this combination, but it sounds great. And I agree that the standard colors in their current form are not the best combination. That's why I liked some of the more neutral greens and golds suggested here.
Although I'll wear the full-on guild colors for guild events, at other times I'll be running around in different colors (all my toons have their own color themes) and I'd like the emblem to work with them.
This is my plan as well.
Seconded.
This was one of the things I considered when I came up with this:

The backgound (which would be your main armor color) could be any shade or color and changed to "jalapeno" for guild events.
I am not lobbying for this design; just using it as an example.
Green Bay Packers colors. Nice. I'm cool with that as I live in green Bay, WI. ;)
This lead me to looking up dyes on wiki, which then lead me to the understanding that you can change your colors any time throught the Character screen. MIND BLOWN
..and the colors look good to me!
Rocking Midnight Green and Wheat at the moment. Before I was using Jalapeno and a plain-old Gold dye - the colors were a bit jarring, and made a lot of gear look "enameled", even the medium armor on my thief. I much prefer my muted colors, and happily wear them when out doing stuff alone.
