I miss Publix. I wish they had them here! We go to WaWa for hoagies instead and they are pretty good. It took me awhile to start calling them hoagies too cause in the south you call them subs lol. They also call sprinkles jimmies here which I think is totes weird.
Wacky, I've never really heard someone call it a hoagie, but I guess I can see it depending on where you're at. We had a convo yesterday about soda vs pop and I told everybody that down here everything is a coke, no matter what you get. I don't get the sprinkle thing though... you mean like donut sprinkles? They call it jimmies? I can't imagine saying that.
So if everything is coke how do you order a sprite or some other soda? lol. Yeah the sprinkles on donuts or ice cream they call them jimmies. I don't remember why but anytime I've wanted sprinkles on something I say sprinkles cause it's just odd saying jimmies lol.
If I go to say, McDonalds, and order a drink they ask if you want a coke with that. You can tell them something else, but if you say yeah it's always a coke. If you go inside they'll say do you want a coke even if you're going to the drink machine. If someone's going to the store, they'll ask if you want a coke, you say yeah and then you damn well better tell them if it's anything but coke. So far as southern Alabama is concerned, coke is the default drink for anything. I prefer Pepsi Max myself.
Oh okay that makes sense. My favorite drink is apple juice...I wish they served it everywhere :D
Ok, Jimmies?! That's weird. BTW Zen I HATE when people call it POP. Everyone up here does, it's such a northern thing. Even in the grocery store the sign on that aisle says POP and it makes me cringe. I 100% believe that it should be soda.
Agreed. My preferred pronoun is soda as well. I remember when I lived in Kansas a while they all called it pop and that was the first time I had heard that. They used to have Friday night Pop & Popcorn parties at the school. Speaking of, never move to Kansas and then leave. You'll constantly hear jokes about the Wizard of Oz. Oh you're from Kansas? Guess you're not in Kansas anymore Dorothy har har har har*insert Degru's laugh*.
