Best Duo Team..?? Couples Team up!

I have been talking to my Jymbeau about this for past few days trying to get a handle on the best duo team.

We all know the staples of the trinity (Tank, Healer, Damage Dealer), but wasn't sure what would be best in FFXIV..

I had planned on becoming whatever is needed.. but that is why I LOVED Redmage in FFXI, but alas..

I figured Tank and Healer would be good, (Marauder and Conjurer) but the ability of dealing damage would be lacking..

Also thought about Thaumaturge with a Cure, plus Tank ( Marauder again because of more DD output).

So couples... what are you guys planning on playing with your lovie dovies..?

Anybody else planning on much of them FF life tied to somebody else...??

How practical are your Choco "tanks" or "healers"?

I know you can "solo" as pretty much anything or so I hear, but I want things to as smooth as I can..

Thoughts..?

There are multiple ways of going about this:

Tank + Healer = You'll never die, but killing will be slower. You'll also get into dungeons super easy.

DD + Healer = More effective than Tank + Healer for duos, the lack of a tank will make getting dungeons a bit harder.

DD + DD = Depending on the classes you roll, you may end up competing for gear, not ideal for couples I'd imagine :P Otherwise, not bad, and chances are you can just cross class Cure and even then you probably won't need too much in the ways of healing in duo parties for most content unless you're going after mobs much higher level than you.

Marauder + Conjurer would actually be decent, as they do deal damage a bit more effectively than Gladiator.

It really depends on what you want to be coupled for? Outside duengeons? I'd pick two DDs and grab cure early on. Probably Archer/Thaum for the high direct damage and mobility with someone who has MP and MND for curing and can do AOE.

However, if you're talking about being a solid twosome for dungeons, then Conj/Maud is probably the best combo. That will keep your waiting time to the minimum most likely and you'll be able to constantly spam yourself through dungeons.

My buddy and I pretty much duoed Ifrit as a GLD and THM(w/ cure) after the rest of our party failed to notice that their Everything was on fire. It was pretty rad.

This made me laugh at my desk, so thank you for that. On the same note - I did that fight with only a THM still alive as well.

A good portion of my time will be spent with a trio, consisting of two of my best friends. I think we're currently planning me as Conjurer, one of my friends as Gladiator and the other as ... something else. She hasn't decided, yet.

ill be a war/pld with my wife probably picking up scholar/summoner

Chocobo DPS is nice(not sure if it scales but I tested it at lvl29 and it was keeping up with me). Healing is a little slow, I assume due to CD and not due to lack of proper AI. I haven't tried tanking with my chocobo on any appropriate mobs. I sent it up against a mob that was about 16 levels higher than me and my chocobo took about 4 hits before dying.
