Housekeeping / Why people get pruned from the FC
Hello, Knights!
This morning, as I was doing our routine "housekeeping" on the FC roster, there were a lot of questions about what's going on, how can I avoid being kicked, etc. So here's the answer: If you don't want to be removed from the FC roster, log in to the game.
If we had our druthers, we'd keep every Knight on the roster forever, but S-E has put a limit on how many people we can have in the FC at any given time: 512. AKS has, right now, about 200-300 active people playing FFXIV - people that are logging in to play at least every few days. That gives us room for about ~200 people that are in the guild but don't actually play the game. Who are these people, you might wonder. Well, they might be...
- Veteran MMO players who tried out FFXIV for "something different," played for a while in AKS, and have since wandered off.
- Friends and family members of Knights who just didn't click with the game.
- Alts that don't get used.
- People who just stopped playing for any reason.
As we attract new recruits, we approach our member cap. As we approach our member cap, we prune the old members off the bottom of the list. This means that the 501st-512th least active members of the FC are pruned.

There's no set number of days. There's no hard limit on how active you have to be. And there's no exact timing to it; as we add new members and start to run out of space, we prune the old members. If you are the 501st least active member, you will be pruned. If you are the 499th least active member on Tuesday and you log in on Wednesday, you will be spared from pruning.
Keep in mind that being pruned from the FC list does not mean you have been kicked out of the guild. We have Knights that don't even play FFXIV, and we have Knights that used to play and no longer do so. Being pruned from the FC list just means that you're not on the FC in-game anymore; if you return to FFXIV, you can rejoin the FC as a Knight any time.
Once a Knight, always a Knight.

Also note that while inactive people are currently around 70 days of inactivity prior to HW we used to be around 200+ days of inactivity. As time goes on, there will be greater distance between "pruning".
