LOLNin tips

Calling all ninjas, WTB some advice on how to play the class.

My gear isn't the greatest, I think my ilevel is 109. Daggers are the 110 ones with the UAT (still waiting on shiva)


Anyway, I was recording DPS on the dummy, and I can get a little over 400. This realllly drops in fight obviously. I dont understand how you guys get these 500+ numbers etc. I know numbers aren't everything (getting the kill is always >>) but I feel like something is wrong in my rotation.

So I've been starting a fight with:

(Before pull): FAST mudra > Mutilate > Dancing Edge combo > Spinning Edge > WATER Mudra > TRICK ATTACK > Complete the Shadowfang Combo. Spinning Edge > Kassasu > LIGHTNING Mudra while T.A is still up > Then Aoelian Edge combo

After that, I try and prioritize all dots being up, keeping Mug etc off CD, weaving in B4B, Internal Release between the combos, Refresh FAST mudra with 5 seconds left, only using Kassasu when it's available to LIGHTNING mudra after Trick attack. and so on and so forth.


In an actual fight, it's easy for me to get confused. Granted, I haven't spent a lot of time on it and i guess practice will sort things out but my major mistakes are:

Not keeping up FAST mudra (for some reason I will use lightning with 5 seconds left on the timer and T.A is on CD)
Using Trick attack and accidentally going into Aoelian adge combo
Forgetting to keep up shadowfang



I do enjoy the class and would like to get better at it, so if anyone has any tips that would be great

Utsusemi: Ni all day, every day.

Huton > dancing edge combo > pop CD's (including dex pot) > put up dots > normal combo > trick attack > kassatsu > raiton.

weave ninjitsu in between normal combo GCD's for maximum dps, and always use a ninjitsu as soon as its available.

rinse & repeat.

I use dancing edge before dots so the intial hit of the dot attack hits harder, its marginal dps gain but its still there. Also if theres a warrior tanking you dont have to use dencing edge as long as he keeps up the slashing debuff.

keep your dots up, keep huton up, use trick attack when its available and use raiton as the filler.

My NIN is about i117 and can do 500+ dps uneless there's a lot of dodge mechanics, like on T9 my dps falls off drastically, but yeah.

you will get used to the micro-management of dots, debuffs, buffs, and ninjitsu over time.

Dirk ; I also have no idea how they do it, and honestly, I don't care. Saturday night, when I ran gilgamesh as a Paladin, Adamant said "oh right, I don't have to fight against Kheo's ninja threat". That was my cue that I was doing my job right ;)

Here's my rotation rundown.

Speed Mudra
Dancing Edge Combo > Spinning Edge Combo > Mutilate > ShadowFang Combo
Lightning mudra.
Mug/ OFFCD when they are available. Then I do Lighting Mudra.
Dancing Edge Combo > Spinning Edge Combo > Mutilate > ShadowFang Combo
Then I usually do Trick Attack > Refresh Mudra(for 100% crit hit) > Lightning
Dancing Edge Combo > Spinning Edge Combo > Mutilate > ShadowFang Combo
Refresh speed.
bla bla bla

in a fight, don't forget that you have the Knife Throw, I see a lot of Ninja not using it.. "its using too much TP for what its worth", yeah right, keep bitching, you should have invigorate ;)
I also use Invigorate whenever my tp goes under 500, I dont wait for Low TP moments, i hate those.

As King Nyxus Ninja is all about the micro management of the ninjutsu,dots,trick attack and dancing edge timers. There are two opening rotations and the rest is just keeping timers on track.

The opening that will most likely be used in a premade group (skills in parenthesis are off GCD).

Huton prepull> wait 13 seconds > tank runs in and pulls> Spinning edge> (Blood for Blood AND Internal release if using a potion)> Gust slash> (X-potion of Dextarity or internal release if it was not used.)> Dancing edge> (Suiton Ninjustu)>
Spinning edge> (Trick Attack and Kassatsu)> Shadow fang> (Raiton Ninjustu)> Mutilate> (Mug)> Spinning Edge> (Jugulate).

The opening that will most likely be used pugs and such is as follows.

Huton pre pull and tank runs in > Mutilate> (Blood for Blood) > Spinning Edge> (internal release)> Shadow fang> (Mug)> Spinning Edge > (Jugulate) > Gust Slash> Dancing Edge > Combo to Aeolian Edge> (Suiton Ninjustu (this may be late))> Spinning Edge > (Suiton if it was late and/or Trick Attack and if it was not late Kasstsu at the end) > Shadow Fang> Mutilate.

After either of these openers it is all about keeping the Ninjustu on Cooldown, Huton up, dots up, and Dancing Edge up if you are the only source of it available(Warriors Storms eye included). Kasstasu should be used after a trick attack as to not interfere with Huton or other ninjutsu timers

General timer tips

I tend to clip (reapply before the full duration) all of my timers at a certain point so they don't fall off. This is from personal experience as I always seem to be at these points in my rotation where if I don't reapply them now there will be few seconds of down time as I get to that point in my rotation again.

Times at which I clip.
Shadow Fang at 6 seconds remaining.
Mutilate at 4 seconds remaining.
Dancing Edge at 4 seconds remaining.

For Huton I personally reapply it if it's under 18 seconds or so. If it's above 20 seconds I throw a raiton or Fuma Shuriken out and then reapply Huton as it falls off.


Ninjutsus

For Ninjutsu one just needs to use a priority system. The priorities I use are as follows: Huton if it's under 20 seconds > Suiton if Trick Attack is up or will be in under 10 seconds > Raiton > Fuma Shuriken if one is pressed for time.

Sadly, anyone who has played ninja for awhile knows there's some lag with the Ninjustu inputs. If there is one should continue with the prior discussed priorities but forgo using Raiton. My reasoning behind this is that if my timers are being delayed due to having the server not get my inputs for raiton, then extra damage is not worth the lost time. A note about Fuma Shuriken, while the other ninjutsus are magic it is considered physical damage. While this may not seem like much with it's lower potency compared to Raiton some mobs reflect or are immune to magic such as the clockwork knights in turn 4. So just keep that in mind if the fight calls for it.
Everything else will come with practice so just keep at it and enjoy this fun class!

That's all that comes to mind currently, if anyone feels I have forgotten anything please feel free to say something!

Regarding lag, since This entire game does everything server side, including alll of your UI and action presses, you will be hit by ping spikes if you dont have a really direct connection to the server.

Since the normal GCD is like 2.5 seconds you dont normally notice it that much and people started using WTFast for dodging mechanics only.

However with the addition of Ninja and a 0.5 second Mudra GCD it is extremely noticeable, lag can mess you up in mid combo and give you a bunny or it will take you extra long to perform the Ninjitsu.

What works for me extremely well is, you guessed it WTFast. If you get premium and use a chained connection to the server and yourself, there is less of a delay and little to no ping spikes, and the spikes (not your ping) is what fucks you up. So my recommendation is to use that.

Also Dirk, learn to Goad. Goad goad goad goad, for the love of god :yuno: goad the f'n WAR's...... Ok rant over. I say this because when I tank as WAR i have to constantly tell NIN's to use Goad, it's like they don't want to use it... Here's a Macro I use as NIN for it, you never even have to disengage what you are fighting, thats the best part!

In terms of Goad priority Mnk/Drg/Brd/other Nin are all way above War in 8 mans.

Yes I agree, but typically when I am Doing WoD I try to make sure the tank in my group is going good on TP. I haven't done much outside of that yet and even then they rarely ask for TP since most of them should have Invigorate cross classed already
